Most local parks allow us to take our canine friends into the park, however, unless there are specified DOG RECREATION areas that have designated "Off-Leash" dog areas, we advise that you maintain your dog "On-Leash" at all times. There are small local organizations desperately fighting for "Off-Leash" dog parks throughout San Luis Obispo County, by not following posted leash requirements, the County Leash Law, and picking up after your animal, you are catering to the opponents of "Off-Site" facilities. Please remember that not every person is a dog lover, not every dog likes other dogs, and there are people that want nothing more then to have the removal of all "Off-Leash" dog parks. Also, the medical costs associated with a dog bite to both human and animals are huge. By being aware, conscientious, and cooperative, you are also doing your part to insure future dog recreation areas for our canine friends to enjoy. If there are no posted dog signs at the park that you are visiting, please contact the San Luis Obispo County Parks and Recreation Department for further "Dog Friendly" info.
